Speaking recently to the LA Times, the 44 year old icon opened up about her plans for her new album.

Next up, time permitting, is a new album to work on during 2011. “I’ll just have to fit it in while on tour,” she says, stressing that her new project will not be looking backward or forward. Instead, she plans to stay in the moment.

“No rush, no deadlines, just create, see what I’m feeling, see where the music goes,” she says. “I want to see where I am in my life at that moment.”

Life without new Janet Jackson has really been sucking!!!! And award shows have become soooo lackluster without the greatest performer of all time gracing the stage with her presences. If she holds true to her statement 2011 will be one a amazing year

I know!!!! 2010 was the year of the new and moderately suceessful artist to reign. BUT next year all the heavy hitters are coming back Janet, Britney,and Beyonce...I'm just sooo happy

Funny thing is, when Janet starts talking about an album, then it's in the works and will probably be out in no time.

True! I'm not really worried as longs as JD is out of the picture, she's already stopped whisper singing, and if she doesn't try to work with flavor of the moment producers she'll be GREAT! Because though Janet's music is generally r&b-dance-pop its still sounds/feels deep and organic something that I think she kind of lost with the last album.

Jan I would love it if you put a Janet. for the 21st century. I know, impossible, but god :| Anyway, I'm glad she is releasing new music...or thinking of it! Just as long as it is more exciting than her last two

This is nice and all, but the music landscape is dominated by young talent. Artists like Janet and Mariah don't stand a chance, sadly.

i agree , although, she has had some amazing songs and videos

"feedback" (video absolutely artistic and very original)
"rock with u" (amazing choreography)
"don't stop" (amazing video and choreography)


but it's true that compared to her most amazing work (The Velvet Rope, Rhythm Nation 1814, Control), her last 4 albums were not as good as we could have expected.

I think it's better she takes her time
find a NEW THEME to build the album around it
find something that is NOT related to sex, something as intelligent and smart as "depression" or "social conciousness" or "being independent and control of your life"... but a new one.

She should really be defiant and bold again.
Madonna and Janet should bring their creativity back on top now that they've seen that Lady GAGA is the new queen of pop.
I guess, both Madonna and Janet cannot allow themselves to come back with something mediocre and so-so. They need to shock the world and mark history again.
