Notable inclusions on the list were two of Madonna's main contemporaries: Whitney Houston and Janet Jackson.

Find Out Who The Hollywood “It Girl” Was The Year You Were Born

1986: JANET JACKSON
"With the release of her album Control, Jackson gave us such iconic songs such as "Nasty and "What Have You Done for Me Lately," and managed to top the Billboard 200 for the first time in her career."

1992: WHITNEY HOUSTON
"For as long as she was around, Houston was a superstar, belting hit after hit; 1992 made the release of The Bodyguard, her stratospheric acting role. Watch the "I Have Nothing" video to see how amazingly effortless she makes her work seem."

Other notable inclusions are Donna Summer in 1975 and Beyoncé in 2003.
However, a glaring omission was that of Madonna, a seemingly huge pop star here on ATRL. Does Madonna's exclusion from this list means she was never a Hollywood "It Girl?"
If so, why?
Discuss.
