Bette Midler apologizes offensive tweet for Caitlyn
Quote:
Midler apologized Sunday for a weekend tweet about Caitlyn Jenner which caused an uproar online.
Midler specifically aimed her apology at the Human Rights Campaign, which works with the public on issues that transgender people face, for her tweet many on social media labeled as "transphobic."
"Dear friends @HRC whom I have always supported. Sorry last tweet offended," Midler wrote. "An idle musing. I seem to have misread the temper of the times."
The now-deleted tweet on Saturday referenced the Aug. 16 cancellation of Jenner's I Am Cait reality show. Jenner's transgender journey from Bruce Jenner ended on the E! network after two seasons.
"Now that @IAmCait has been cancelled, will she go back to being Bruce? Will Kris take him back? Do I smell a re-wedding?!" Midler tweeted, according to Metro-UK.
Jenner, who has been the target of Midler tweets in the past, was not mentioned in the apology and has remained quiet on Twitter since announcing on Tuesday the ending of the reality show .
she made a mistake and apologized. and bette midler isn't transphobic at all she's been a supporter of the LGBT community since the 70's when barely anybody cared about us
Better isnt the champion for the LGBT community some make her out to be. Shes said questionable things before
Bette worked in the BATHhouses for many years. She knows what marriage is about as she's been married to one man her whole life. Nothing she said there was questionable. She said gay men like to get around and that even if they did get married, for most it wouldn't last. (Compared to lesbians who are much more likely to stay togeher). She said she herself didn't take religious vows when she was married, as I wouldn't either. Bette was just saying how she feels about the mess that was goin on and that everyone should have the same civil liberties.
Religion doesn't like gay people it never has, why would they want to be apart of something that hates them so much.
She was right tbh.
She wasn't as great an ally as she could've been, but she wasn't pretending like some others
It doesn't matter what you think of Caitlyn. Her tweet suggests people are only transgender because they want fame and that is in very poor taste.
No, it doesn't. It suggest that Caitlyn was hungry for fame. The only offensive person towars the trans community has been Caitlyn with her terrible representation.
Queen Bette remains unbothered by the SJWs on twitter that dragged her. She'll remain winning with her Grammys and Emmys and critically acclaimed successful career. She didn't have to ***** herself out on reality TV for coins like Caitlyn does now.
