News: Germany may warn public to stockpile food and water

The newspaper cited the text of a "civil defense concept" that the German cabinet will consider this Wednesday. This would be Germany's first civil defense concept since the Cold War and was commissioned in 2012.

The plan would require the German public to hold food supplies to last up to 10 days and 10 liters of drinking water per person, to last for five days. Plus, the public would be told to hold a fallback supply of energy and cash.

I keep thinking of filling a box with tinned food "for emergencies". Apparently tinned food never goes off according to scientific experiments

. There was an experiment where a lab held a tin of fish from before WW2. They did tests on it and found that it was still safe to eat

i agree, there is going to come some kind of war our way.

since no one of our eu brethrens cares for us germanians, i hope y'all will deal with the fall out when the biggest economy in the region is no more. the good thing is, when we go down, so will france, uk, italy and usa. hahahaaaa - well done lizzy II. for not doing what's right during brexit

True, as long as the tins are intact and not deformed or dented, they're safeand edible (so I've been told).

If war is going to happen it's not going to last 10 days but like 2 with all the weapons Russia etc. have so don't even bother sistrens.

I am not surprised by this... I'm from Poland and when Russians started to took over the Crimean Peninsula, our government started to appoint nurses and messengers. I live 30 kms from large military base and F16 and other military jets (or whatever they are called) fly almost every day. I am sooo worried, I think that doing such supplies wouldn't be a bad idea (it's better to do something than nothing)
