On August 18, Yang Hyun Suk (YG Entertainment Founder) said in an interview, “CL’s current image is ‘cool and powerful.’ I hope that her U.S. management team maintains that image for her and I know she will do well.”
“After her American debut was announced, many people started talking about things like chart performance,” he continued. “But I just want her music and art to be acknowledged by outsiders as well as fans. The U.S. market is a big one, so both CL and I agreed not to get too hung up on her chart performance and statistics from the start . I think her song and music video came out really well.”
He concluded, “I’m cheering her on as a fan, and I hope many people do too.”
!!!! that is like the key part to the context of that whole sentence. It makes sense. She's a new girl just debuting in the US and most people don't know who she is and she's Asian. She won't smash right out the gate. It's a realistic thing to say but "shade11!1" tho

This, "not to get too hung up about charts from the start" =/= "doesn't care about charts".
I mean truthfully, she shouldn't be concerned with it at the moment.
She's trying to cross over to the US, from a market that a large portion of the US views as a novelty. She's gotta build a base, and with having her debut single already in the top 100 before Friday hit.... it's a good start.
Let her build steam, and let Scooter do what he does best.
