I'm reading some archived posts in The Lounge and I stumbled upon some interesting responses to threads involving feminism, rape culture, abortion and womanhood.

For instance, there was this talk about Kesha v. Luke. After she dropped all her accusations, some members were wondering if she actually got raped. Many responded, including Ryanicorn, saying something along the lines of, "You honestly believe a woman would lie about getting raped?" despite evidence that false rape accusations are actually happening. I've seen the same argument getting recycled for Halsey's alleged miscarriage.

Another variation of this is "Would you honestly believe that story over _____ who is a woman?" as if simply being a woman would make one more reliable, honest and truthful.

I'm really just curious because I'm seeing this "women can't/won't ever lie" statement more prominently in many places; even in mainstream media. Why do people say this?

I think people are just saying it to show how liberal they are, but it's really just SJW ********. Every situation is different.

Per year, there are 3500-4000 prosecutions of rape with 2000-2500 convictions.

109 women were imprisoned for false allegations in 5 years.

Of those, some claim they were forced to retract charges and were then prosecuted for preverting the court of justice.

These are statistics in the UK where stricter rulings take place than anywhere else.

At which point during your research did 109 out of a possible 10,000+ women = 'false allegations happen'

This attitude is why 30% of sexual abuse is reported.

the stigma that follows when a woman files a police report when she's been raped is enough to make me believe that the women who claimed they were raped are telling the truth. the fact that some lie isn't enough reason to disbelieve every rape claim. if they do end up lying, shame on me, but i never want to be the person who doesn't believe a woman who claims she's been through a terrible assault and emotional trauma.

Using the term "liar" for any alleged rape victim is dangerous
I've never seen anyone say women NEVER lie
but the statistics of rape victims who never come forward
because they feel no one will believe them is huge. We should take
every case as possibly true and Investigate further and draw conclusions
from there. Kesha dropping charges does not prove she was lying, rape is very hard
to prove if not reported immediately. Calling her or any other alleged victim
a liar is gross and instills the fear in others
