I know it's a not a light topic. What celebrity deaths hit you the hardest? How did you find out and react?
For me the ones that hit me hardest were Whitney, Prince, MJ.
When Whitney passed it was probably the worst. I remember I woke up that day and something just didn't feel right. I sill find it really odd to this day because it's like I almost felt like something bad had happened before I even learned of her death. I woke up really early and just felt like I had to turn on the news on the TV, so I did and they were playing like a montage of some of Whitney's songs... and I just knew what that meant before I had even seen/heard the words. I was just in awe and couldn't really digest it. I sat there for like hours in silence.
I had been working all night and it was morning so the newspapers were starting to come in and I saw Prince's face on front of all of the newspapers. I thought "Oh wow Prince is finally doing some promo! Yas" and then I saw the headline "Purple Reign Is Over" and my heart sunk. The words under it said "Legend, 57, found slumped in lift" which just made me feel sick. I couldn't really believe it because, that was PRINCE. Prince couldn't be dead.
Robin Williams. When someone on twitter cited the Aladdin quote: Genie, you're free. It really hit me.
Alan Rickman, Severus was my fave character from HP.
I felt bad when I found about Michael, Amy & Whitney too.
Chespirito. If you're from latin america, you'll know what I'm talking about.
Bowie earlier this year was pretty sad. The outpouring of praise and love for the man was really touching, there are at least two generations of weirdos he encouraged to get out into the world and express themselves.
Might not mean much to many here, I was kind of upset when the poet Seamus Heaney died a few years ago (a giant in literature, and a national treasure in Ireland) also. Such a powerful voice.
