Imagine you had never had any same-sex inclination, and you had never experienced homosexual tendencies. Imagine you loved the opposite sex and couldn't have ever imagined having any sort of sexual relationship with the same-sex.

Would you or would you not be homophobic? Is it possible that your background and culture would have influenced your perspective on this matter? Is it possible that your Religion or your parents beliefs would have influenced you? Would you have been as empathetic towards homosexuals?

If so, can you therefore empathise with homophobes and somewhat understand why some people struggle with homosexuality, or do you hold the belief that there is no excuse for homophobia and you would have always been accepting regardless of your sexuality?

At 13, I also watched Nadia Almada's strength and courage as a 'secret' trans woman on Big Brother which deeply moved me and influenced me very early to accept my sexuality as a gay man, so that too would have eradicated any homophobia.

Personally though, my cousin was lesbian and later proclaimed herself as trans. It's complicated because she hasn't exactly made it clear what we should call her etc. Nor do I believe she knows what she's talking about. She's baffled, as am I..
