And while fans have all kinds of guesses, it appears Mel B will be returning to the singing competition alongside Guy Sebastian, Iggy Azalea and Adam Lambert.
The former Spice Girl is said to be joining as the fourth member of the coaching cast due to her close connection to series creator Simon Cowell as she appears on the UK version of the show this year.
'Mel is a real favourite with Simon. He loves her straight-talking attitude,' an anonymous insider told The Sun.
The report came just hours before a teaser clip for the surprise judge aired on TV and the program's social media pages.
The promo features a female judge with black hair, fair skin and long red fingernails watching the show from a secret room.
