It depends on when he drops out, if October probably no new nominee since ballots would already be printed in many States.. Here are the RNC rules of when a candidate drops out ..

Committee rules governs "Filling Vacancies in Nominations," and stipulates that should the party's presidential or vice presidential candidate leave the ticket for whatever reason, the hole may be filled either by a reconvening of the national convention or by the party committee itself. The vice presidential nominee is not given any preferential consideration.

Should the committee elect to fill the vacancy — a seemingly more likely scenario given the logistics involved in organizing a second convention — Republican National Committee members representing a given state are entitled to cast the same number of votes as that state was entitled to at the convention.

If the RNC members from any state are not in agreement about casting of their votes, the votes of that state are divided equally among members of the RNC voting.

The final stipulation of the rule is that no candidate may be chosen to fill a vacancy except by receiving a majority of the votes entitled to be cast in the RNC election

He's too much of a narcissist to drop out.

On one hand, I think he's too much of an ego and isn't in the race to win it. He's getting attention, he's getting name recognition, and he's making Brand Trump known all over the world.

On the other, I just can't imagine him doing a losing speech and knowingly going into Election Day with the knowledge he'll be Trumped by Clinton.

It wouldn't surprise me see him drop out early September sometime if the polls are like this. But I'd say its unlikely.

That's not how this works, dear. You need time to invest in a candidate. You need at least a year, if not two. You need public funding. You need to have your policies addressed. None of this can happen with only 94 days.

This is so true actually

In this day and age, a rush candidate could actually work. The Republican party has plenty of money to throw at a new one should the situation arise as Trump isn't even accepting the small support they are offering. With the technology we have today, awareness could be built quickly for the candidate chosen after such a controversial move by Trump. Things can change much quicker now than they could in the past, though I still don't believe Trump will drop out.

This is partly true. If the Republicans picked someone who is already a household name and is known for being a conservative, like Romney or Ryan, then that immediately gets them on side and will get them to the polls. If they picked someone completely random or just Pence have it, then yeah - it'd be a mess.

But I imagine a lot of people would be pressuring Romney to do it.

I did say that he isn't actually serious about the presidency, and if he said this and means it, well that kinda backs it up.

His polls already fell, but he should stay in the race so Hillary wins.

I think the "Politiican" Trump isn't the real him because the Billionaire Trump was smart, well spoken and very open minded. I think he "dumb" down and became "racial" to appeal to more people which I think says more about Americans than it does about Trump
