Ok, as we all know the Harry Potter book and movies series are iconic, epic, and the childhoods of so many people. Absolute masterpieces. That fact can't even be questioned.

However after the series ended, JK Rowling said she wasn't going to write a Harry Potter novel again and she tried writing other types of books that didn't see success. She then started Pottermore where she started writing random short stories about the Harry Potter world that felt inauthentic and frankly cheap about how they become middle-aged, washed up adults. Potter, now graying, is attending the Quidditch World Cup with his kids; Ginny is a Daily Prophet sports reporter; Ron co-manages Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes; Hermione is leaning in at the Department of Magical Law Enforcement; Neville teaches herbology. She even made an American version of Hogwarts Ilvermorny with tragic house names like Pukwudgie and Horned Serpent.

The tragic nature of Pottermore aside, JK Rowling let Harry Potter and the Cursed Child turn into a play that received poor reviews. Add onto that, JK Rowling has been retroactively telling the story of Harry Potter by saying random things like that Ron and Hermione end up divorcing and that Hermione should have ended up with Harry and that Malfoy was someone beyond redemption.

Even further, she's making another Harry Potter movie without any of the original cast featuring Eddie Redmayne which probably will lack the charm of the original movies because our favorite characters and actors are not apart of it.

I love the background information on Pottermore and the Ilvermorny story. I'm not really interested in the whole Fantastic Beasts plot but I'm here for all the background information we get on the wizarding world as a whole. So I'm glad this is all happening.

It's been driving me crazy tbh. I especially hate all the retconning she's been doing on Twitter. Like just stop. It's like if Shakespeare kept touching and retouching his stories. It's ruining the series for me, so I bloock it all out now.

The Casual Vacancy book was very polarising and definitely not for everyone. It was still made into a very good TV series... The Cormoran Strike novels are all bestsellers, and I havent read them yet but people who have told me it's good.

Of course nothing is ever going to match up to HP but her post-Potter success is admirable.

It's not a Harry Potter movie, it's a whole other franchise set in the same universe, and the trailers look promising, and everyone I talked to, including the skeptics loved the trailer. Eddie is also an amazing actor...


The thing is, no one is trying to replicate the success of Harry Potter... People have been begging for an expansion of the Wizarding World, and we should basically be glad that Rowling is doing it herself rather than letting some random people do it in 30 years after she's old/dead/whatever.

She needs no money... at all... and her post-Potter success is pretty amazing anyway... so I'd like to think it's basically her passion towards the universe that's keeping it a part of her job... And when there's the passion, I do think the possibility of it ending up awful is pretty low...

Having said all that, I DO agree that at least the Harry Potter part of the universe is better left untouched. I also don't like her twitter revelations.

i mean, it's her creation so she can do whatever she wants with it, but i do kinda agree with what your saying tho. she should just let the book rest in peace since it is such a huge part of pop culture tbh. but i think that Fantastic Beast movie will be good since everyone apart of it are great so there's hope

idk, i never got into Harry Potter like everyone else did. i read all the books & watched all the movies but it did literally nothing for me. it was so boring and just felt, bland to me. but i see why it's still huge and i aprpeciate it for giving me fantastic actors such as Daniel & Emma

I LOVE that all of this is happening (Pottermore, Cursed Child, Fantastic Beasts etc), it really makes the universe she has created even more real and authentic, I don't care if she does it for money or not. Tbh, she could write an entire book about some random muggle and I'd read it.

It's her franchise, though I agree to a big extend. I rather wish we would get some spin-off books based on some characters. I mean why is there still no book about (a part of) Voldemort's background. Why did he become what he become? Voldemort was the enemy, but he has more layers than the books showed. Same for Perkamentus.

I don;t mind the new movies about Fantastic Beasts and i am curious to see how they turned out.

But I am not that happy about Cursed Child, since what I read online, it feels poorly done and since there is a timegap between the last book and that play, it feels odd to have almost no character development, beside some crappy Pottermore posts.

Harry Potter was a big part of my childhood and even though it is J.K.'s 'baby' , I wish she would have taken a different turn in expanding the franchise.

Lol all that info on potrermore isn't random. It's her series and she's had several years to create the whole wizarding world before it was finally first published in 97. She has always stated that she had a full encyclopedia of information about the series way before pottermore. And Fantastic beasts is based on the textbook in the series and is set in the 1920's. In my opinion, no it is not diluted. This is her story and all her creation. So it is authentic whether people like it or not
