Im European so I don't know much about either aside from hearing Trump says dumb things and that Hillary is a crooked liar.

I have also been told that Trump is not as bad as Ted cruz who was also running, because Cruz was far more right wing than trump.

so is Trump *that* bad or is he just saying things for votes and will end up being more moderate for a republican? I know he previously was in favour of trans bathrooms and gay marriage (i also heard he took these back at some point) and i also heard he softened his stance recently on muslim immigration to the US, but maybe he just says the more radical things for votes.

I'm European too and I know he's trash, racist, xenophobic and sexist judging from the beginning part of this campaign, where had little to lose. This was the real Trump as he probably thought he had little chance against Bush and Cruz...

He never campaigned on anything. Trump has still yet to release a SINGLE advertisement or platform on the subject. The news media has done all of this for him by sensationalizing everything he's been saying.

Also, the Bernie supporters saying that they'll vote for Trump are mostly a subset of young people who know little to nothing about politics or the world in general, only started paying attention to international affairs this year, and are just throwing tantrums because they are mad they didn't get their way; never mind that their way was always a hopeless and unqualified cause, but that's another story.
