Kesha announced Thursday that she will donate a portion of the proceeds from her upcoming concert at Harrah’s Atlantic City Resort to a charity benefitting victims of the June shooting at Orlando, Florida’s Pulse nightclub.
“We have come a long way with the equal rights movement but we have so much more work to do,” the singer said in a release. “I’ll never stop fighting for people who just want to be able to express themselves freely for who they are.” Kesha will direct part of the money earned from the concert to the Pulse Tragedy Community Fund, which was set up by Center Orlando in the wake of the shootings.
Kesha has long been an ally of the LGBT community. In March, she received the Human Rights Campaign Visibility Award for her solidarity with the cause, and in June, she helped a couple get engaged onstage during her set at Disney World’s Gay Day celebration.
I kinda understand why she's charging $45 bucks for men because most of her fans are homosecksuals and we'll come up with the coins lemme buy a ticket and take a trip to philly
Was there ever an update on how much the GoFundMe helped the victims and their families? I feel like so much money was raised that literally every family could get enough to cover funeral costs and whatever else.
