Since the explosion of mobile technology and home entertainment system in post 2008, more and more people are staying at home than being out in public. This has caused an epidemic of big proportions of anti social behavior on our children and young adults. Instead of young people being influenced by their friends they are now influenced by the internet often growing radical ideas and behavior. To an extreme they turn into violence.This explains why there is an explosion in mass shooting starting from the early 2000's.

I have seen this problem in person myself. When im out in public most people are rather on their phones than talking to one another. More people socialize better thru social media than socializing in person. This is a very scary situation for the u.s. as technology keeps advancing more people will enclose themselves from society. The situation will get much much worse.

yeah it's sad, when I'm out with someone I hardly look at my phone. I hope that it won't turn out that bad in the long run

This isn't just the US.

The whole concept of real life communities started dying out years ago as individualism took over. Social media has increased that. They call it social media but really it's anti social because it's interacting with pictures on a screen it's not meeting people face to face and having human contact. It's very unhealthy.

This is not just happening in the US is terrifying how this is happening all over the world

its not just the US its every modern country. Personally I find it more sad for the younger generation. Thankfully most people grow out of it as they get older.

excuse me? but nobody ever grows out of it that easily. we havent even seen the effects of this because technology was not this big a couple of decades ago. Since this is the first time we see this happening to us we don't know how deep this will affect our young.

Yeah it sucks. When we have breaks in between lessons literally everyone is on their phone and it's dead quiet. Instead of going on my phone I now try to read a book but it's weird when everyone else is on their phone including my teacher

yup. I went out clubbing a month ago in west Hollywood and the club I went to was dead Empty. and it was a Saturday night too.

sad but what can you do. even my own friends when I hang out with them they always come with phones attached to their hands. I think I'm a dying breed that when I talk to people face to face I don't do it with a phone in my hand

I think a lot of people are guilty of exaggerating the extent and scope of social effects of growing digitization.

US is going through an Anti epidemic, just in general. Rihanna ha power and lasting influence.

I think the people that complain about the impact of social media and how it makes people anti-social blow it out of proportion. If I'm on a bus, with no one I know, I am going to get on my phone. I do not see the problem in this. Before we had our phones, we had newspapers and books. People have always liked having some form of escape from what's in front of them.
