It looks super boring so I can't blame the GP for not going to see it. Recently the whole "family" (non-animated) genre has been very lame + too childish for teens and adults to connect with.
"The BFG" is an awful title for a film. It doesn't matter if that's what the book is called, you call the film something else.
It's like naming a Mars space adventure film "John Carter." Marketing is key. This will be Steven Spielberg's "John Carter."
