What are your thoughts about SYG?
I personally find it disgusting, and a horrible place. It also sticks out like a sore thumb on a rule driven site like ATRL, imo. It has birthed posts that are ridiculously vile (not just about my fave, I hate posts like that about anyone, even artists I dislike), racism and extremely horrible posts that almost resemble 4chan's surface. I don't like it, so I don't post in it at all.
I've often heard people defending SYG as "Oh well, it's all jokes. Don't take the internet seriously!" which is a viewpoint that, while I heavily disagree with, is one I can at least understand as valid.
But still, just because it's a forum, doesn't mean you should be able to say all this. There's SUCH a disconnect from "normal" ATRL and SYG part of ATRL: it's almost like a split personality, members included. Plus, again, with all the rules that sometimes shackle discussions, it seems hypocritical to me have a place dedicated to their disregard like "Go be a mess here! No consequences! Don't do it anywhere else though
". It's weird.
