What I mean by the title is people who come out as whatever to their friends / followers on Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, Insta etc.)
Why do people do this? If you're a celebrity then that's understandable. But if you're not then what's the point of typing up a whole paragraph or whatever just to let people (some who you barely know?) know about your sexuality?
Why not come out to someone you trust or family, friends etc.
Attention seeking tbh, sexuality wont matter until you make it a big deal
Or It's just a good way to get It off your chest. It's always good to be able to share these things with someone and in these days "someone" can be your followers.
It's the same effect with writing something in your dairy. It helps you to accept things and sort them out. Some kind of relief too.
My Englisch is quite limited right now to truly express what I mean but I hope you get It at least a bit.
A couple of friends have done it, I don't see any harm in that, but it's not the approach I'd make (that was telling only my best friends and parents, being myself and letting the others know with time).
Maybe it make things faster, like, everybody will know at the same time so you don't have to repeat the coming out speech anytime you meet a friend or family member. Maybe they feel it's easy since they don't have to do it in person.

This is the only attraction I see. Coming out is such a drag, but by posting it you can catch a lot of people at once. Of course, they get to make comments, which is why I would never.
I didn't do it but it seems pretty reasonable. You tell everyone at once, you don't have to have the awkward and sometimes difficult face to face telling and you don't have to go through it time after time again. I would always recommend telling your parents face to face first, though
I wouldn't recommend coming out to close friends or family that way but it seems like a fairly easy and effective way to let other people know with less potential for things to get awkward or hostile.
My brother told me over Twitter but he was standing right nxt to me filming I think he was nervous, None of our family had us on Twitter though so he told everyone else in person.
Social media is a great way to reach a lot of people at once, so coming out on social media makes sense if you want to inform a lot of people without having multiple one-on-one conversations about it.
After coming out to my family and friends, I myself did post it on Facebook just because it was easier than having to let people know individually and gradually. It was a huge weight off my shoulders and I'm sure other people have felt the same.
Everyone has to do it in their own way. It's not really for me (I just told people gradually and still not everyone knows but it's not something I intentionally hide anymore) but if that's how someone wants to that's OK I guess. I do cringe at some of them though
