After recently premiering the music video for their single “Baptism”, Crystal Castles are already moving onto their next single by releasing their Platinum Blonde cover “Not In Love”. The song appears on the band’s sophomore album Crystal Castles (II), but for the single edit of the song, they’ve managed to get The Cure’s Robert Smith and his moody vocals to replace CC frontwoman Alice Glass. Smith’s vocal is so unique and instantly recognizable that “Not In Love” now sounds more like a current remix of an old Cure song rather than a Crystal Castles tune: It’s quite good, but at the same time I can’t help but miss Alice’s distorted and inaudible ‘vocals’ from the album edit.
“Not In Love” featuring Robert Smith will be out as a single in December, which will also feature acoustic versions of CC’s “Celestica” and “Suffocation”.
