Rihanna notched her first global #1 10 years ago. Ever since then, she's had more #1s than any other artist since then. I was blasting Umbrella in the car and my friend was like, "How old is this song? Play one of her new ones!" She just had another #1 a few months ago and she has several songs racing each other up the charts simultaneously, something no other artist can base their career off of doing unless they're extremely likeable and their brand is set. Is all of this just super impressive in retrospect, or nah (singles artist, forgrettable songs, etc)?
Yes. Rihanna is one of the biggest music acts in history.
It's also kinda "cool" to like her. I dont know how to explain. Every type of person can listen to her music, she's not typical pop or r&b or dance or hiphop.
Definitely!
Her longevity is impressing because she actually always notch her own game up for every album.
Also many people though she was kinda over pre-Loud and people made fun of her for being a "single artist". but now she has achieved superstar status in a I didn't believe she would. I mean in 2007-2010 I would never ever think of a "Rihanna performance" at an award show as an event, but thats what it has turned into now!
