Shontelle album 'No Gravity' to be released August 24
New album "No Gravity" releasing August 24th.
Lead single "Impossible" on iTunes top 15 charts.
Top 10 in top 40 radio.
#13 on billboard charts, top 40 in Canada.
Great review from billboard 85/100: "Barbadian singer Shontelle shines on "Impossible," giving one of the year's standout female vocal performances and recalling the poignancy and technical precision of Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable." Shontelle already earned a top 40 entry in 2008 with "T-Shirt," but this arresting midtempo ballad is now the bigger hit of the two. The 24-year-old's vulnerable delivery demands attention when she sings, "Tell them all I know now, shout it from the rooftops/Write it on the skyline/All we had is gone now," releasing the pain of a broken heart. A gentle piano melody, acoustic guitar line, simple drumbeat and light synth production support a stunning melody co-written by Swedish producer Arnthor Birgisson (Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson) and Norwegian singer/songwriter Ina Wroldsen, who also supplies backing vocals. Nothing is impossible when a vocal sounds as effortless and anthemic as this. --Michael Menachem"
New single soon (US= "No Gravity", UK= "Impossible")
I actually think, if Impossible gets even bigger, and she releases it, it probably will sell 20k+ in its first week, and if No Gravity (the song) becomes like Impossible, it might have a chance at going gold.
I mean shes proved to not be a one hit wonder, so maybe radio will see that, and will be more nicer to her on her next singles
Impossible is amazing, but it's not big enough to get her really good album sales yet. Once & if it becomes a big top ten hit, she will see a good first week, I'm hoping 25K at the minimum.
I want the album to have longetivity, more than anything. Impossible & hopefully future singles keep the album selling consistently.
She's not gonna sell if they don't push her some way. She hasn't been promoting the song, nothing's happening except for a song on the radio.
She's only gonna happen as a selling artist when they do to her exactly what they've done with Rihanna. First of all, she needs to get rid of those reggae-influenced songs and she needs to make people want to get to know her and talk about her.
Where can she promote it though? Maybe So You Think You Can Dance.
She needs to release it to the UK, T-Shirt went top ten, and Stuck With Each Other went top 30.
Battle Cry went to 61.
