I've loved Rita since the beginning. She reminded me a lot of Rihanna and that's what made me interested in her music. Her debut album is a solid record, delivering great pop dance tracks and some nice ballads, too. My main problem with it is that it lacks creativity and doesn't offer anything different to the market. However, tracks like
Roc The Life, How We Do (Party), R.I.P., Radioactive, Young, Single and Sexy and Meet Ya got me to like this album. I hope that she finds her own style and delivers something more fresh and innovative in the future.
I didn't love Ke$ha's sophmore album at first, but I got to admin that there are some great tracks in it. It's typical Ke$ha and exactly what you can expect from her. Maybe I was looking to see some growth from her previous record, but Warrior sounds pretty identical to Animal. However, I can't deny that this formula works for her on tracks like
Die Young, C'Mon, Crazy Kids, Whrever You Are, Supernatural, All That Matters and Last Goodbye. Maybe she should try something different in the future for a more solid album.
Christina has always been someone I've looked up to as a singer, vocalist and performer. However, I feel like she lost her identity a little down the road. Back to Basics is one of my favourite albums of all time, but since then she has had a few rough years. Lotus was one of my most anticipated albums of the year but to be honest I was a bit disappointed with it. It lacks creativity and vision in my opinion. However, if I get through my high hopes for it there still are great tracks like
Army Of Me, Your Body, Let There Be Love, Blank Page, Cease Fire and Just A Fool. It is still better than the mess that was Bionic, but pretty still damn low for an artist like Christina. Better luck next time I guess.
This album came at exactly the right moment for me and helped me get through some rough moments. To be honest I've never been a fan of Norah, but this album somehow made me love her. Both lyrically and musically well-executed, I love how the whole album tells a story. It's a great laid back record, a little depressed at times maybe, but hey - we all have those moments so it's great that there's music like that to pick us up. Standouts include
Good Morning, Say Goodbye, She's 22, Take It Back, After The Fall and Happy Pills.
Just one position away from the Top 10 comes an album that was just realeased this week but was able to go all the way to 11 in my 2012 charts - Bruno's Unorthodox Jukebox. I have to say that I love Bruno's music - it has great energy and a quite unique vibe that no one else in the business has. Even though its far behind Doo-Wops And Hooligans for me its still great and show a different side of him. I have to mention the cover which is perfect and works great for the album. My favourites from the album include
Young Girls, Locked Out Of Heaven, Treasure, Moonshine, When I Was Your Man and Show Me.
