Discussion: Will this finally be it for Ciara?

I'm sure we all know by now that Ciara has been confirmed by L.A. Reid that she'll be joining EPIC records. For the past few albums that Ciara has given us, the sales have been less than stellar to say the least. Jive wasn't doing much for her, but now that she has a new label home do you think this will finally inject life back into her career or was the coffin's door closed and sealed long ago?

I think with the right music + image (that isn't contrived) it can really propel her back into the game. Ciara may not be a strong vocalist but the bitch slays every performance. I honestly haven't seen one performance from her where she didn't deliver (minus any performance where her vocals is the main attraction). So, how do you think the new label home will affect the current state of her career?

it wasn't never really the label, it was Ciara/ JWEG. She won't become successful if she tries to recreate Goodies again :/

Like you said, she can perform and make a cute song, so she could easily be one of the top girls in music, this time next year.

I think this is the make or break moment for her.

She's talented, but part of the reason people have lost interest in her is because her sound is so dated now. I know she loves her hard, urban music, but there needs to be a change in sound. Not to the point where she ends up with a bunch of Dr. Luke sounding tracks; just something a bit more modern than the stuff she has been doing for years now.

Her music isn't hot or current (for the most part)....she needs to come hard next time with intense music that matches the moves.

God her team is so ****ing retarded for not releasing "Turn It Up" featuring Usher. Usher was and still is hot at the moment, and the song is catchy and EXTREMELY radio friendly. She could done her dance thang with it on the American Music Awards, and performed it on a few other TV shows, and had a hot video and BAM, easily would have been a top ten hit. Possibly a top 5 hit.

I really don't know with Ciara anymore. I love me some her, but she opened with a "Promise" type first single that people wanted (NE) which didn't do so well, changed her sound with LSM which led to top 10 first single and still flopped. She's then reverted back to her to a 'Goodies' type sound with Basic Instinct and flopped even harder than before.

I really just don't know about her. I'm not going to say hang it up, flatscreen, but it's very hard to tell.

Anyway, I was really annoyed by her lack of enthusiasm for Basic Instinct, too. I'm positive she knew damn well that it was going to flop, but she could have at least PRETENDED to believe in it. I was so irritated by her careless attitude.

Her music is just fine, people just are unfortunately fickle. Nothing is going to change for her, the album will flop because people don't want Ciara, not because the music is bad. Too much stan drama, too many egos, and too many hurt feelings. People don't realize that a huge majority of black female artists share fans, and when it comes time to take sides, everyone chooses Beyonce or Rihanna leaving the rest of the girls to flop very badly and since the stans wars blazed up in 2008 things have been looking messy.
