Rihanna Tops Hot 100 for Third Week, Kelly Clarkson Debuts in Top 10
Quote:
Rihanna's "Work," featuring Drake, logs a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated March 19). Work," released on Westbury Road/Roc Nation, holds atop the Hot 100 and claims a third week atop the Streaming Songs chart with 44.4 million U.S. streams, down 5 percent, in the week ending March 3, according to Nielsen Music. (With the song's official music video having premiered Feb. 22, this week's charts reflect its first full week of tracking.) "Work" keeps atop the Hot 100 with a nearly 2-to-1 lead in chart points over Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself," which holds at No. 2 after leading for two (nonconsecutive) weeks.
Twenty One Pilots' "Stressed Out" is steady at No. 3 on the Hot 100 after rising to No. 2. Flo Rida's "My House" hits a new Hot 100 high, pushing 5-4, swapping spots with Bieber's former three-week No. 1 "Sorry" (4-5); Zayn's "Pillowtalk" stays at No. 6, after debuting at No. 1 four weeks ago; and G-Eazy and Bebe Rexha's "Me, Myself & I" holds at its No. 7 Hot 100 peak, while ruling Billboard's Hot Rap Songs chart for a fifth week.
Kelly Clarkson's "Piece by Piece" debuts at No. 8 on the Hot 100 after her emotional performance of the song on the Feb. 25 episode of Fox's American Idol. The title track from her 2015 album skyrockets 35-1 on Digital Songs (marking her third No. 1 on the list) with 210,000 sold, up 852 percent; the song debuted on the sales survey last week due to an initial surge after her Idol performance, just before the close of last week's charts' tracking week.
Denmark's Lukas Graham, led by Lukas Graham Forchhammer, likewise enters the Hot 100's top 10, rising 12-9 with "7 Days," DNCE's debut hit "Cake by the Ocean" drops from its No. 9 Hot 100 peak to No. 10 (although with an overall gain in activity).
Just outside the Hot 100's top 10, Fifth Harmony's "Work From Home," featuring Ty Dolla $ign, debuts at No. 12, marking the quintet's highest debut and equaling its best rank; "Worth It," featuring Kid Ink, rose to No. 12 last August. The group's new single opens at No. 5 on Digital Songs (88,000) and No. 13 on Streaming Songs (10 million), while adding 20 million airplay impressions.

The 1975 Earns First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart
Quote:
Alternative band The 1975 scores its first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as its second full-length effort, I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware, debuts atop the list. The set earned 108,000 equivalent album units in the week ending March 3, according to Nielsen Music. It sold 98,000 in pure album sales.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ new This Unruly Mess I’ve Made debuts at No. 4 with 61,000 units (of which 51,000 are pure album sales). The hip-hop duo’s last album, The Heist, debuted and peaked at No. 2 with 78,000 sold in its first week. It went on to generate four top 15-charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100 (including a pair of No. 1s: “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us”) and has sold 1.5 million copies.
Kelly Clarkson’s Piece by Piece album zooms 120-6 with 44,000 units (up 682 percent) and 19,000 copies sold (up 676 percent, with its best sales frame since its second week on sale). The set rockets back into the top 10 for the first time since its No. 1 debut (March 21, 2015) thanks to an emotional performance by Clarkson on the Feb. 25 edition of American Idol. On the show, she sang a piano ballad rendition of the album’s title track, which brought the diva (and Idol judge Keith Urban) to tears.
