20. Drive By -Train

It was a difficult choice choosing this song over some of the others who may have made this list, but this song was everywhere it seems over the summer of 2012 and proved that Train still can compete in a market dominated by dance music.

19. Starships - Nicki Minaj

With so many hits from Nicki no list would be complete without at least adding this great guilty pleasure of 2012. It includes one of the most iconic lines of all time "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" so what's not to love. While many say she alienated her Urban fans, this song gained her so many more fans of Pop music. So which is more important, sticking to your roots and pleasing your fans, or getting filthy stinking rich off a pop song??? I guess we know her choice

18. Bully - Shinedown

Even though this made my list I will be the first one to admit that this song get's old and annoying fast. We get it you don't like Bully's. But no matter how sick of this song I get I always find myself coming back to it for that amazingly well done chorus

17. Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen

When VH1 makes another 100 greatest one hit wonders in 10 years, this song will most definitely rank near the top of the list. While it is probably one of the stupidest songs lyricaly, there is not doubting its catchyness, and it's success atop the BB Hot 100 proves that time and time again, popular songs are mainly songs that aren't really that good.

16. Payphone - Maroon 5 Feat. Useless Rapper

This is for the version without Wiz Kalifa or however you spell his name. His rap part just ruined that song for me. While one of their weaker songs/albums Maroon 5 gained the success they deserve with this song. Ignore the video though, easily one of the worst of the year



15. Burn It Down - Linkin Park

Linkin Park came soaring back this year with one of the best albums of the year, and while this single under performed it brought many of the older fans who missed their older sound back to them, including myself.
Not my first choice for a lead single off of the album though, but it still proved that they have a massive fanbase out there.

13. I Knew You Were Trouble - Taylor Swift

After Speak Now I started to become a fan of Taylor and then once I heard WANEGBT I forgot about that and moved on. Then suddenly I Knew You Were Trouble came out and it immediately became of my favorite Taylor tracks of all time. I think it's just mainly the chorus but this song is one of the best of 2012
and forget about this Music Video also like Payphone it is one of the worst of the year

12. Free - Haley Reinhart

I don't really listen to any of the past American Idol contestants music besides Kelly Clarkson but this song is flawless. It is amazing how a song like this was made in a time where most music is dance and electronic influenced. Her powerful voice and amazing lyrics sent this song flying into many of my playlists of the year.


11. She's So Mean - Matchbox Twenty

The chorus to this song is what got me hooked. Plain and simply put it is an amazing song by an amazing band who finally got their first number 1 album this year thanks to the success of this song

10. Blood - In This Moment

I'm not usually a fan of Screamo/Hard Metal music but this band has started to change me. When I first heard this while they were opening for Halestorm the song imediatly stuck to me and after the concert was over I was still singing the song(though I was singing the wrong words to the chorus because who honestly knows the words to a screamo song without looking at the lyrics)
