His logic is flawed as most PC gamers are
He's right in some areas but you know what's intriguing? The games he liked on Wii U were only released late last year. The Wii U had a hell of a long time getting any games that weren't basic party games or simple platformers.
He's also forgetting people are buying a PS4 to play games INSTEAD of buying them on a PC. So even if the console exclusives might be lacking to his needs, it still has the widest catalogue of games.
The Wii U wins on exclusives, but have a look at those exclusives. He reckons that shooter games are so 2006, and yet he's sitting there playing Smash Bros like it's revolutionary.
And third-party support for the Wii U is becoming non-existent so unless Nintendo are making it, we don't seem to be getting anything worthy for it. Not to mention the Wii U store is port heaven.

The PS4 appeals to gamers who want the experience and wide catalogue of a PC, without a PC. The already wide variety is just going to continue to grow over the next few years.
The PS4 offers people accessibility as not every gamer wants to deal with PC upgrades. They just want a gaming machine that will last them for 5 years minimum.
My Gaming PC from 2012 is already struggling with current games. But I honestly can't see why I'd spend money to upgrade parts for $200 - $400 when I could just buy the PS4 and have access to current games.
