As so few major new albums were released last week, there wasn't much competition for the No. 1 slot on the new Billboard 200 chart. In turn, Zac Brown Band's "Uncaged" returns to the top, for a second week, rising 2-1 with 48,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan (down 38%).
That's the lowest sales week for the No. 1 set since the chart dated Feb. 19, 2011. That was when Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" climbed to No. 1 with 45,000. Since then, thanks to a constant stream of big new albums -- and Adele's enduring "21" -- we haven't had to fret about a low, low No. 1-seller until now.
However, things should perk up next week, when Rick Ross' new "God Forgives, I Don't," will make a splash on the tally. After that, there are some big guns waiting throughout August, including 2 Chainz's debut studio set and the "Now 43" compilation. Yet, most superstar releases are being held until September, including new efforts from Pink, Mumford & Sons, No Doubt and Kanye West's GOOD Music.
As for the rest of the new top 10 this week, Nas' "Life is Good," falls from No. 1 to No. 2 with 45,000 in its second week (down 38%). Right behind him is the chart's highest debut, the Gaslight Anthem's "Handwritten," at No. 3 with 40,000. It's easily the best sales week for the act, which had previously lodged its highest frame when 2010's "American Slang" debuted at No. 16 with 27,000. (That album also marked the band's previous chart peak.)
The second and final top 10 bow this week comes from Passion Pit's "Gossamer," entering at No. 4 with a career-best 37,000. That's a slightly larger figure than some industry prognosticators had expected. Those in the know initially thought it was going to launch with around 30,000. "Gossamer" was a monster in terms of downloads, as a full 74% of its first week were sold digitally. (Comparatively, Gaslight Anthem's first-week digital share was 52%).
The rest of the top 10 are holdovers from last week, starting with the "Kidz Bop 22" album at No. 5 (dropping two spots, with 35,000; down 45%). Justin Bieber's "Believe" slips one to No. 6 (35,000; down 22%), One Direction's "Up All Night" is steady at No. 7 (33,000; down 8%) and Frank Ocean's "Channel Orange" falls four to No. 8 (just under 33,000; down 40%). Adele's "21" and Maroon 5's "Overexposed" are non-movers at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively, selling 30,000 (down 9%) and 23,000 (down 20%).

Jennifer Lopez's Dance Again…The Hits debuts at #20. The title song, featuring Pitbull, has sold 954,000 copies in 17 weeks. It was a hit, but not nearly as big as the same team's 2011 smash "On The Floor." How much bigger would this album have been if it had accompanied a legitimate smash like "On The Floor" (15 weeks in the top 10 on Hot 100) rather than come months behind this moderate hit (which stalled at #17)?
Love and Theft's sophomore album Love And Theft debuts at #21. Bob Dylan had a top five album titled Love And Theft in 2001.
Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3 re-enters the chart at #28, its highest ranking since February 2010. The album surged because of a sale in the Amazon MP3 store. The album is #1 on Top Catalog Albums. It's the first rap album to top the catalog chart since 50 Cent's Get Rich Or Die Tryin' in March 2005 (the resurgence in that case was due to the release of his then-new The Massacre).
The Blueprint 3 has sold 1,933,000 copies since its release in 2009. All three of albums in this series have been big hits. The Blueprint has sold 2,730,000 copies since its release in 2001. The Blueprint 2: The Gift And The Curse has sold 2,122,000 copies since its release in 2002.

Less than 400k away from 10 million, and it hasn't had a proper discount yet. Columbia has control over its discounts. I hope they do one really soon. It's due for one.

I hope she gets 3 more weeks but that might be hard. I wish her record label would release some type of visual for Turning Tables to ensure 10 million quicker.

They won't. They don't seem too worried about that seeing as though it will reach 10 million eventually. I'm hoping she gets three more weeks. Even if she falls out soon, it's not unlikely she will be back since none of these other albums are having much longevity in the top 10.
21 should be eligible for a diamond certification now, but I bet they wait until 9.8 million or sometime in September to certify it.
