I'm watching the 2000 VMAs (I got it from YouTube) and wtf happened to the music industry and industry as a whole? Why did it stop being cool? At the 2000 VMAs we had:
Aaliyah, Britney, Christina, Lil Kim, Madonna, Janet, Eminem, Chris Rock, TLC, Destiny's Child, JLo and NSYNC
A big part of it for me is the dancing and performance. Nobody dances anyone bar a few artists and nobody puts much effort or thought into their performances. The only females I can think of that still do are Gaga, Beyonce, Madonna, Tinashe (dance-wise)
People will say the same about the 2010 VMAs in a few years from now. You're just getting old and it's normal. Just don't be ignorant about today's music 'cause there are a lot of artists working hard and releasing decent materials. You just need to look around and move on from the past.
It's like the 80s all over again, mostly one hit (or two/three hit) wonders with a few classics sprinkled throughout.
Our 90s iconic era of music is coming
although it's just MTV awards that became trash, Billboard music awards alogside with AMAs become the new VMAs and EMAs. Poor MTV. Internet killed the video star
It stopped around 2013. Now the music everybody serves us is pathetic and pretentious. The music videos have become boring and uninspired. The performances are tragic and unoriginal.
