129 VEVO views = 1 iTunes download ($1.29)
A $1.29 song sold on Itunes
Quote:
30% to Itunes
70% to labels,artists, songwriter/publishers.
|
70% of $1.29 = $0.903
VEVO pays the labels/artists/songwriters/publishers $0.007 per stream (whether it's Youtube, VEVO, facebook, AOL, BET).
129 streams = $0.903
Which mean 129 VEVO streams is equivalent to 1 ($1.29) Itunes download.

"The old model cheapened the value of music videos," says Vevo President and Chief Executive Rio Caraeff. "We want to restore the premium lustre."
Money is trickling back to the labels: A label whose videos rack up 10 million streams on Vevo could collect around $70,000.
|
This $0.007 is for all VEVO views, whether it is from youtube, VEVO, BET, Univision, AOL, CBS etc...
Top 5:
Justin Bieber "Baby"
616,758,449 views x $0.007 = $4.32 million payment from VEVO (equivalent of 4,781,000 Itunes download)
Lady Gaga "Bad Romance"
411,312,596 views x $0.007 = $2.88 million
Shakira "Waka Waka"
390,774,184 views x $0.007 = $2.74 mil
Love the Way You Lie
377,553,975 views x $0.007 = $2.64 mil
On The FLoor
368,822,184 views x 0.007 = $2.58 mil payment from VEVO (equivalent of 2,859,000 Itunes download)

$0.007 is for ALL VEVO views (youtube, VEVO, CBS interactive, last.fm, mp3.com BET, facebook etc...)
VEVO on VEVO,com pays about $0.014 (highest ad rate)
VEVO on all the channels (youtube, VEVO, CBS interactive, last.fm, mp3.com BET, facebook etc...) is $0.007
VEVO on youtube (if I have to guess) is about $0.005 (maybe a little bit higher)
ON AVERAGE, it's $0.007.
VEVO hosts videos on its website. And then it's syndicate its videos to Youtube, AOL, Univision, lastfm.com, BET etc....

Yes, as long as it's from VEVO, it will get paid. And pays much higher than a regular Youtube Partner because it's a premium and professional content. And Lady Gaga is famous. Advertisers will pay extra.
A regular Youtube Partner gets about $0.003 per view.

But we can pause right here to let you know how Homayoon is making his money ($70,000 since 2008) and why.
As of Friday morning, Rob's World had 24.9 million uploads.
|
Assume his first 1.5 mil views are from before he joined Youtube Partner.
$70,000 / 23.4 million views = $0.003 per view

How about common people who upload their home made videos to Youtube. Do they enjoy the same kind of payment?

Nope. You have to apply for Youtube Partner.

You've got great videos and a growing audience. Let YouTube help you take your channel to the next level through our Partner Program. Generate revenue from your videos and access YouTube's specialized partner features and tools, including rentals, content management, and analytics.
|
Which mean that you OWN the videos you create. Or have the rights to it. And most importantly, your videos are popular (say 10,000 views per video).
When you are accepted, youtube will pay you about $0.003 per view. 10 million views = $30,000.

So that's the reason for the whole Rebecca Black's Friday being removed?
They didn't apply for partner and after she got over 150mil views they realized how much money they could have made?

It doesn't.
I'm just saying 129 VEVO views will generate $0.903 USD
The same as 1 Itunes download ($1.29).

But you said 30 percent to iTunes and 70 percent to the labels...
Did you mean 30 percent to VEVO?

Yup. That's 70%-30% split is standard for Itunes.

I don't know what % VEVO gets.
From Wall Street Journal: A label whose videos rack up 10 million streams on Vevo could collect around $70,000
The $70,000 from 10 million views is after VEVO take its cut. $70,000 is what VEVO paid the labels.
"on Vevo" means vevo videos on all their syndication channels (youtube, vevo.com, aol, BET, cbs interactive ect...).

I believe the traffic for VEVO videos is something like this
65% VEVO on Youtube (pays about $0.0055 per vevo stream)
25% VEVO on VEVO.com (pays about $0.0150 per stream)
10% VEVO on AOL, BET, Univision, last.fm, mp3.com (pays about $0.0055 per vevo stream)
VEVO.com is the main channel.
All others, including youtube, are just syndication channels.
If more people watch videos on VEVO.com, then VEVO will pay more because VEVO ad rate is like $25 CPM. Youtube ad rate is only $8 CPM.

No. Her channel is a Youtube Partner. 150 million Youtube Partner views x $0.003 = $450,000.
The song made so much money that Rebecca Black and Ark are fighting over who get to keep what.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/...75G4XL20110617
Quote:
Rebecca Black is getting her 16th minute of fame now that the teen starlet's infamous "Friday" video has been pulled off YouTube by her lawyers.
n Black's case, she seems to have created a vanity recording by making a deal with Ark Music Records to use its studio to record her song. After the song exploded, Ark Music wanted to capitalize. And that's when it starts to get interesting.
In March, Black's lawyers sent a letter to Ark Music, accusing the company of copyright infringement and unlawful exploitation of her publicity rights. Specifically, Black says she never got the master recordings allegedly due to her by contract and that Ark hadn't attained the necessary rights to advertise her as an exclusive Ark recording artist and commercially exploit the song in derivatives like ringtones.
Most bona fide record labels would have taken care of such matters rather easily. But if Ark was really more like a recording studio for hire rather than a recording label, it likely gave little thought to how it would support Black's career through publicity and marketing expenditures. Instead, Ark took a few hundred dollars from Black's mother to let the 13-year-old record a song, probably without the slightest expectation of any further reward.
Now that the song has hit it big, the equation has obviously changed, and the parties are fussing over who owns which rights, which will help determine the slicing of the royalty pie. If the parties don't come to an agreement, only a court's inspection of the contract will settle the matter.
|
If ARK is a recording label, then it means ARK will get most of the money.
If ARK is a recording studio for hire, then it means that Rebecca Black get most of the money.

So lets say RWJ Has roughly About 140 Billion Views on his raywilliamjohnson Channel Alone
So if 10 Million Views equal to 30,000 Dollars then RWJ Has About 4,000,000 Dollars from that channel alone
