Welcome to my Best of 2014 Countdown! This is the first countdown I’ve ever done on ATRL. Here I’ll be listing my 100 most played/liked songs of 2014. The songs are mix of new and old songs. Artists with entries include such icons as M.I.A., Rihanna, Britney, BoA, Mariah, Xtina, Tinashe, Cassie, The Weeknd, and more! (There will be plenty of surprises along the way .) But who will take the coveted number 1 spot?

The original with A Great Big World didn't even chart but when Christina took it on it went on to become one of the biggest smash hits of 2014 worldwide. 4X Platinum in the US, 6X Platinum in Canada, and certified in many other countries. Though tbh this isn't even close to being one Christina's best ballads. It's cute though. She holds back a lot vocally and shows admirable restraint, as not to overpower Ian (which once again proves the idiotic haters wrong when they say she "always oversings and shows off"). This song showed the GP why Christina is still the Voice of Our Generation.
Trivia: I HATE that other guys's voice. Who else does?

The video slayed lives and had EVERYONE talking. If she had released her album around this time its first week sales would have smashed. Oh well. I believe this album will have longevity.

The undisputed Queen of Rap caused quite a stir among the urban community because the original cover art for the single featured Malcolm X wielding an AK-47. And then caused a bit of controversy by mentioning his daughter in the song. I think people overreacted like hell. But what's new? This song has a fierce trap beat with fierce lyrics to match.

A stripped down gospel/R&B ballad that was critically acclaimed. I was slayed a biT after a couple of listens. Though I'm glad that the rest of Me. I Am Mariah... The Elusive Chanteuse is a lot different.

One of the best 80s dance-pop songs. Check out the video to see a real performer in action. I love Paula and while she is criticized for her voice I think she has a wonderful tone, is a superb all round performer, and her choreography is top notch.
Fun Fact: This is my favorite Paula Abdul song.

A soothing song by the lovely and mysterious Sade Adu.
Trivia: In 2010, after a 10 year break, Sade came back with their album Soldier of Love which went platinum.
