OK, I don't know if this is the right thread to post in but.....I see it as this.

Right now in the Artist Of The Year race it's basically Nelly Furtado v.s. Fergie. Both have had strong selling albums and strong singles, even good tracks that aren't singles.

So, is it fair that we say it's these 2 for artist of the year, or can we make another choice?

From how I see it, if Fergie goes top 10 with Clumsy on pop radio and hot 100, and remains in the top 20 on the album chart for just about the rest of 2007, I say she is the Artist Of The Year. If not, it's Nelly Furtado.

Between those 2 Fergie because Big Girls Don't Cry is one of the best songs of the year. But the artist of the year now I think is Kanye West #1 album, #1 debut of the year, #1 song. Good Life is another hit and Can't Tell Me Nothing was huge for the streets. Kanye almost has an Usher type year

I'd want to agree, but I really can't. The reason I say this is because I think Nelly and Fergie have been more consistent.

After following these charts the last several years, it's not about having a huge debut week, it's all about consistency when you're trying to decide those End Of The Year awards.

Nelly Furtado is soooooo gonna be the artist of the year!! I mean, 7.3 million albums sold with "Loose" and still running ...and more millions sold for single and digital downloads?... I mean, "Say it right" will probably be the song of the year... "Loose" is STILL the best selling album of 2007 (but it will be behind Linkin Park's "Minutes to midnight" in just a few weeks.... ) ...
"Say it right" MASSIVE SUCCESS, "All good things" huuuuuuuge breaking-records single in Europe (not in the U.S, though), "Give it to me"... and probably "Do it" already doing great in TRL and VH1... I don't know... I think Fergie is good... ... but she didn't have the impact that Nelly Furtado or Rihanna had this year... (and Rihanna is not the artist of the year... 'cause let's face it... her album hasn't sold that much... by now... )

It's really up in the air at this point, IMO. I believe a four-way tie exists between Nelly Furtado, Fergie, Rihanna, and Kanye. The tie will probably be broken by the end of the year depending on whose singles fare better, but all four are worthy candidates.

totally agree!! (and... let's face it... Kanye hasn't sold that much outside America... ... )

He may have ridden on the strength of Sexyback, but I don't think so.

That's why Nelly should be Artist Of The Year. I'm not just talking about album sales-wise, or even chart performance-wise. How I see it mainly, she's gotten tons of good reviews and the fact that she made this comeback in 2006, she told everyone 'I will be taken seriously, watch out boys!'

But Fergie is no slouch herself. While she may have had better single success, it's a toss-up otherwise.

Personally, I think right now it's Nelly 55%, Fergie 35% and 10% for other. I say Carrie Underwood has that 10%.

Nelly Furtado I hope wins.I agree its mostly between Fergie and Nelly Furtado.I change my mind about Rihanna.Fergie and Nelly have been consistent with their albums like Portuguesedude said.They both have been having huge success.Lets see who wins by the end of the year.

Worldwide... since her album is really breaking records, there's no doubt that this was Nelly Furtado's year...
Even though she had a GREAT 2006 with "Promiscuous" (HUUUUUUGE in the U.S) and "Maneater" (HUGE in Europe). That's an example of longevity!!

Rihanna is out of the game... Her album hasn't sold that good... maybe after "Dont' stop the music", her album will get higher in 2008...

Definitely Fergie. I love both, but Fergie to have such a strong staying album and four straight top two hits on BB, four #1s on pop charts, and huge radio hits, there is no one else. Nelly was strong as well, but her sales did slip with the release of "Maneater", which surprised, and she only really got noticed for "Say It Right". Fergie has been noticed with all her singles.

Rihanna only has "Umbrella" so she doesn't count.

ah ok well im pretty sure Nelly will hit #1 on the world-wide chart with Fergie in top 5 to 10 at least

but for U.S. im not so sure how Nelly might do she will def be top 3 but fergie eh i cant say

1st: TRL doesn't matter in any way / Fergie is more than good. She has had four huge singles. Nelly only really had "Say It Right" be her biggest hit, and "Promiscuous". Other than those two no one really knows what else she put out, at least not the general public, of course internet people know.
