R8 indifference: Proof that ATRL overrated Rihanna?
"THE MOST IMPORTANT BLACK WOMAN IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD!!!"
"SHE IS COMING TO SAVE POP MUSIC!!!!"
Things we've been hearing for the last few years. But in the end, despite the countless ATRL threads, no one really seems to care when or if R8 will be released.
Does this prove that Rihanna is a GP/radio act through and through: if she's there and the songs are fun, great, but If not, out of sight, out of mind?
She may and probably will get more hits in the future, but does this indifference show that Rihanna is not as important as ATRL would have us believe?
this is true, in comparison the whole GP was waiting for that Beyonce album after the Superbowl but I dont really see people wanting a Rihanna album even after her 3 singles
I mean for people/GP to care you need great material, which she hasn't really had IMO (FFS comes the closest). No artist can survive today's climate without hits and expect to be successful on a grand scale.
She may have been 'overhyped' on ATRL, but honestly, so is every big pop girl.
People have something called FAITH. It's only natural when Rihanna, pop ICON, has given the world so many TIMELESS hits. She is the rock keeping the pop world steady. People aren't worried about R8 because they already know it will be amazing, incredible and perfect for its TIME. They know better than to rush her, if she was a lesser artist, they might start becoming frantic.
