Let me start out by saying that, yes, "Judas" is
infinitely better than the dismal debut single, "Born This Way." In all fairness, "Born This Way" set the bar so jaw-dropingly low that,
literally, anything Gaga released would have risen above it. I'm pleased to see Gaga's fans on ATRL proud of "Judas" and proud to be a 'monster' after this release; I'm sure it was hard putting on a brave face for "Born This Way" for so long, but now we can all stop pretending and finally move on. That being said, I do genuinely find "Judas" adequately interesting and even -- under inebriated circumstances -- somewhat catchy. Take note: "Paparazzi" was the last time I felt that way about a single release from Lady Gaga. So, as I listened to the bearable second single, a simple thought crossed my mind: "Is Lady Gaga evolving?" I couldn't help but wonder if the little 'monsters' were being deceived or, perhaps, embracing blissful unawareness. "Judas" unquestionably sounds like "Bad Romance." "Bad Romance" sounds like "Poker Face" and "Poker Face" sounds like "Just Dance." (Simple mathematics tells us that, through the Transitive Property, "Judas" equals "Just Dance," but whatever.) Releasing a dated first single that is too heavily influenced by Madonna, and a repetitive second single that strongly resembles her past singles, one wonders where, precisely, is the artistic growth? With her prostheses, Lady Gaga may have "evolved physically," however, sonically and lyrically, Gaga continues to remain where she was two years ago. Do you feel Lady Gaga is evolving as an artist?
P.S. I didn't need an ear condom -- I listened to "Judas" while standing up,
and we all know you can't get pregnant if you do it standing up.
