Interested to know your thoughts here. The album was nominated for several grammys, then we have 6 top #5 hits and over 15 million digital downloads. If Britney sent out The One That Got Away would it even make an impact on radio?

tbh The One That Got Away wouldn't have been such a hit if it wasn't sung by Katy (excluding Adele). The song is just riding off the success of the previous 5 #1s along with being a little catchy.

I think she put together a great pop album; however, the little tricks they are doing to get her singles to go to #1 at the last minute are exaggerating her success.

She put out a great pop album with catchy songs that radio loves and the Grammys liked that too. End of. Nothing fishy there.

No, she does MINIMAL promo and puts out last-minute, messy remixes to try to make up for it.

Her biggest succes this era is tour grossing $50 million and not 5 #1s , and yes she has deserved it .

No one's making anybody buy the remixes though...

I mean I agree that Katy right now seems the queen of pop music because she's had five straight #1 singles. But I mean with The one that got away, it's a good song and everything, but I just hear it and I don't see it as a #1 hit, same thing with E.T., even Teenage Dream the song, I see them as Top 10 hits, maybe Top 5, but not as a #1 hit.

The thing is she gets HUGE support from radio, like someone posted above me, and also the huge promo with her music videos and everything, I mean I get it they want her to do great, but it's sometimes a little too much.

I don't mean to be rude but it also applies to GaGa, BTW the album had those massive first week openings because it also rode the success of the massive TF/TFM eras

Every artist rides on the success of previous singles/albums at one point or another, but it doesn't mean they don't deserve it

its over 20 million downloads, very close to 25 million, if not passed! TOTGA wouldn't suit artists like Britney, or even Ke$ha, Gaga, or Beyonce. So no it wouldnt have made as large as an impact. If it was song by Adele or Rihanna then it would probably have similiar radio success. NO she's not overrated, if anything she's underrated by other people out of jealousy of their our fav. Also katy is no muppet, she writes or co-writes all her songs.

Yes. Almost no promotion other than last minute, catchy remixes to claim #1s is what this era will be remembered for. TD's major success is 5 (6?) #1s from solid pop, and mostly just "catchy" songs that pleased radio. Nothing more.

I don't know how good she is at giving head, so maybe it is or maybe it isn't. I'll get back to you when I become a music producer.
