HE'S 'GONE': When it comes to American Idol, 19 is a magic number. That’s the name of one of the production entities behind the show and the record label that issues product by competitors from the TV series. This week, “19” takes on another meaning for
Phillip Phillips, who collects
his 19th No. 1 on the Billboard charts.
The song that ups the season 11 champ’s total is “
Gone, Gone, Gone,” which debuts in pole position on the Hot 100 Singles Airplay Recurrents chart. The second single from The World from the Side of the Moon, which was just certified platinum, indicating sales of 1 million units,
has already topped six other Billboard tallies: Triple A, Triple Audience, Triple A Recurrents, Adult Contemporary, Adult Contemporary Audience and Adult Top 40 Recurrents.
Phillips remains in sixth place among Idols with the most No. 1 hits. He is the male winner with the most chart-topping releases, ahead of Ruben Studdard, who has a total of 16.
