As you may have noticed, Little Big Town's new single "Better Man" was written by Taylor Swift. The song rose quickly on iTunes after its release but it fell out of Top100 just as fast. I even remember that it entered Top50 on country radio only for like a day or two and then it fell out.
But then it was announced that Taylor had written the song and suddenly the song rocketed to #1. Now it's been over two months since its release and the song has been pretty stable on iTunes and constantly rising on radio.
My question is: do you think that its slow start and its overall performance is just typical for the country industry and that there is nothing exceptional about it or the fact that Taylor wrote it really influenced the song's performance? Do you think that the song would be as successful as it is if Taylor didn't write / it was not known that she wrote it?
I guess it being penned by Taylor did help. The who novelty of her a) doing anything new musically and b) that she was involving herself with country music again on some level. Since fans are craving for ts6 anything remotely close to new music from her people are interested in and want to support.
