Local artist Brandi Hofer is looking to launch a mini art campaign in an effort to raise funds and contribute back to a community which has provided her ample opportunity.
As part of her new and ambitious ‘Cool Kids’ art series, Hofer constructed a piece, drawing on influence from musical icon Lady Gaga and her activism for numerous causes, including survivors of sexual violence.
In support and to raise awareness of the victims and survivors in the Border City and surrounding area, Hofer will be donating 100 per cent of the proceeds collected from the paper prints of her Lady Gaga print to the Lloydminster Sexual Assault and Information Centre (LSAIC).
“It is a cause that is close to my heart and I believe it is integral in our community that there is somewhere to feel supported and believed,” Hofer said.
The Lady Gaga Print Project was conjured up by Hofer through a conversation with an employee of the Centre, upon purchasing one of the prints.
Heather Sinfield, the training and development director at LSAIC, explained how she was ecstatic to hang the print in her office based on the fact Gaga is a powerful voice and advocate for survivors.
“You think back to the one time she had all the survivors come up on stage when she was singing, it was a very powerful moment, so I figured this would be great for the office,” she said.
