The Essential Of 2012 : Top 20 Actors Of The Year
Quote:
2012: end of the world or the beginning of a new era? What will happen in December 21, 2012 ? Psychosis maintained around this famous date has little or nothing to do with our knowledge of the Mayan calendar. Mayans never predicted the end of the world, let alone set the date. If the date of 21 December 2012 is as much known it's because it falls at the end of a great cycle. However, no inscription or manuscript former associate this date with a doomsday prophecy. I repeat for those who have really believe it : Archaeologists have never discovered Mayan prophecy that evoke the date of December 21, 2012, or the announcement of any end of the world.
That being said, This year more than the others, i've heard so many songs, listen a lot of albums, watch hundred of movies and read a couple of books etc. so i decided to call my Best Of : The Essential because everything you will see in thread is everything that catch my mind this year.
The Essential 2012 is a set of symbols that refer to a dimension of the meaning of human existence, which is partly beyond the sensible forms. And I want to thank everyone who helped me to open more eyes on the nature of symbolic art. Whether it is music, movies, etc.. I look at the world differently: art, landscapes, stories on TV, gestures of my friends, the smiles of those I love ... I see them as symbols.
Thank you to all those who will follow my thread. This year i will try to finish it for you. Kisses

Top 20 Events/Moments Of The Year
-_-_-_-_-_-
20 – Lady Gaga at Stade de France
Quote:
I dont know if i can say anything that hasnt being said about Gaga. Probably not, but i'm going to try just because she gives me the biggest and greatest concert i ever saw at Stade de France. While the France Football team is struggling to meet its own stadium, the Queen concert showed almost complete on Saturday 22 September with 75,000 spectators for a maximum capacity of 76,000.
Gothic castle, a science fiction novel like scenario, extravagant outfits and "little monsters" in madness ... Everything was just a big "Fuuuck" to all people who thinks she wasnt Born This Way.
Can't Wait for ARTPOP.

19 – Meryl Streep winning her 3rd Oscar
Quote:
Meryl Streep is definitely the kind of actress that can won 3 oscars in her lifetime. And seeing her winning this year has to be one the greatest moments ever in the Academy Awards history!!! She was so due after so many decades... and she truly deserved it. Always so funny, wise, kind, generous. One minute she makes you cry, then she makes you laugh.
Just an inpiring woman.

18 – Prometheus
Quote:
How to evoke the existential question otherwise than by reflections necessarily doomed to failure (think the unthinkable) or a series of ricochets patients (allegory of the cave) ?
Prometheus is first of all, an invitation to discuss our common tragedy: why be born, live and die? What's the point ? Is there a plan, a plan that precedes and succeeds in life ? What is the value of a life devoted to nothingness ?
Utilitarian surroundings apart (mentioned several times in the film, in various forms), the philosophical question is returned as a pancake, derided. Man is a creature created from the DNA of its creator, because it was decided without his willingness to discuss the origins. But who created your creator? And who created the creator of the creator ?
This is the vanity of the question that is put clearly into focus for all those who are headed to theaters as the astronauts were thrown into the dark skies, thinking to find an answer ... And strong return disappointed.
Nothing is worth more than poetry and beautiful in this world, as in the film by Ridley Scott.

Whoa nice monologue. End of an Era & The Beginning of one for sure. Dawning indeed. France need to get their team together so I don’t blame then for slips-up and some other stuff so nice to see Gaga bring the storming ,Meryl Sheep is nice so good for her, Promethesus is an interesting movie to like and the movie itself is incredible. Nice start.

I LOVED your thread last year. And I can already tell that I'm going to love this one as well, if the first set of your favorite moments is any indication.

17 – The Death Of Whitney Houston
Quote:
When Whitney Houston's publicist, Kristin Foster, broke the news of Houston's passing to the AP, i couldnt still believe it, even after all the unofficial confirmations from Tmz and Twitter. Her life was such a heartbreaking saga : a brilliant talent became a troubled soul. That beautiful voice has been silenced at a time she was doing better in life and career.
From her i've learned that Money doesn't make hapiness any easier, probably the contrary. She can finally stop fighting her demons. May she rest in peace.

16 – Lance Armstrong Doping Scandal
Quote:
To be honest, I never cared about competitive cycling or the Lance Armstrong franchise until all those allegations but even after he was stripped from 7 tour de France titles, i still thinks all this frenzy is a one side story...
Professional cycling is not a singular sport. It takes a team of athletes working together to win stage races and produce a general classification winner like Lance. His teammaters, over many years, have confessed to doping, all say they knew Lance doped, some saw him dope, some stored blood for him, some helped smuggle saline to tamper with tests, and some of the younger ones still "choke up" when they recount the moment they realized they'd have to go along with Lance's doping program if they wanted to race professionally on his winning team. Now to think Lance somehow was off in the corner while the rest of the team he lead was doping is ridiculous.
The USADA just wants his ass and they got it.

15 - EU winning Nobel Peace Prize
Quote:
The whole Nobel Peace Prize is becoming a joke. After Barack Obama, European Union winning seems like a slap in the face of Greeks, Spanish, Italians and all the poverty growing in the world right now, in this time of crisis.
All awards should cease now, that until the unemployed have stable jobs and fair wages, and poor people have access to resources that will better their lives. We are such a perverse society; keep giving awards/money to people in an era where the majority have turned poor, because of our elitists leaders made irrational theory learn in books. What about the reality of life ? They refuse to see the millions of Europeans who have been pelting rocks at their Parliament buildings and crying big NO to their delusional decisions. The Nobel Prize Committee by giving this award to the EU, forget that we have now just 60 years of peace after we had centuries of wars, What kind of illogical standard !?
