Robyn Rihanna Fenty, the olympian goddess that has fallen from the god, born February 20th 1988 on the small yet gorgeous island of Barbados in the Parish of St-Michael is an artist we all admire and defend relentlessly. It's no secret that this beauty of Guyanese and Irish descent had a difficult that upbringing with her dad's Ronald Fenty drug abuse. Due to her dad constant abuse Rihanna was forced to take care of her two younger sibling Rorrey&Rajad at a young age. She had to deal with those nightmares until her mother Monica Braithwaite finally decided to divorce from Ronald when Rihanna was 14 years old.
Everything quickly changed for Rihanna when she was introduced to producer Evans Rogers in December 2003. She flew back and forth between the USA and Barbados to record her demo tape. In February 2005 she was finally signed to record label Def Jam after performing for rap mogul Jay-Z and L.A. Reid. Not long after she released her first album Music Of The Sun in August 2005 which didn't achieve the success her executive were hoping for and they quickly released Rihanna's 2nd album, A Girl Like me in April 2006 only 8 months after the release of Music Of The Sun. Her 2nd album saw a bigger success than her 1st album but still not enough for her executive.
Rihanna and her team were determined to become the biggest artist of are generation which led them to finance Rihanna's 3rd album, Good Girl Gone Bad in May 2007, with her own money. Luckily for them the risk was worth it after the album sold over 8 millions copies around the world and create Rihanna's biggest hit "Umbrella". Rihanna was becoming a household name and rapidly becoming one of the biggest artist to have walk this earth.
All of that came to a shocking stop on February 8th 2009 when the heart of every Navy stopped. Rihanna had been assaulted by her boyfriend Chris Brown. It left Rihanna hiding and The Navy in a period of uncertainty until she came back with her 4th album, Rated R in November 2009. Despite not being a commercial success, it was Rihanna most critically acclaimed album. Being the stubborn and determined Bajan she was she did not let that stop her and she released her 5th album, LOUD in November 2010 which showed us a brighter and happier Rihanna.
LOUD manage to reach commercial success spawning multiple hits and sell 6 millions album WW and get a $90 million grossing tour. As always Rihanna quickly moved on and released her 6th album, Talk That Talk in November 2011 and spawned one of her biggest hits to date "We Found Love". In early 2012, Rihanna released the controversial "Birthday Cake" remix featuring her abuser Chris Brown, this remix left the Navy in shambles. That didn't last long after the release of Diamonds off her 7th album "Unapologetic" released in November 2012 and went on her highest grossing tour "The Diamonds World Tour" and received a prestigious "ICON award" from the American Music Awards.
Robyn Rihanna Fenty has now become an artist who we love for her unapologetic attitude, her amazing and relatable music and her sickening sense of style, despite frustrating us she has become the artist she wanted to be 9 years ago at the tender age of 26. We are now awaiting to see where Rihanna will take us next with the release of her animated movie "Home" in theaters March 27th 2015 and her concept album.
