Ive always been astonished by how uncommon and rare it was for boys or girls to ever speak about eating disorders (when it comes to boys). its always been one of those taboo subjects for a guy.
I remember I started having bulimic tendencies from when I was only 9 years old (I know..
).
Eating disorders effect everyone not only girls and eating disorders are some of the few things ppl feel very ashamed of talking about just like addictions and it becomes even harder to speak of it when your a boy since its very often publicised as a disorder that only effects girls.
Today I looked at interviews by Nicole Scherzinger and Demi Lovato and find myself super proud of them and the way they were able to break free from their disorder and make it a positive for millions of GIRLS. unfortunately they would always emphasise how they wished that them speaking out would help young girls ...little do they know that young boys suffer from this also and we would also like to have a role model to look up to whether it be female or male.
I had to go through hell alone. I couldn't share this secret with my family/friends and I didnt have anyone to look up to. at the end of the day my love for singing and music is what saved me since bulimia was taking its toll on my vocal chords and well my new perspective on life changed too and it helped so much.
now ATRLer's lets be the beacon of light to other boys and girls who may be reading this thread and are going through the same thing.
