Katy's performance at the iHeart Radio Festival, got me thinking how there is no major female pop star, that is a great technical dancer. Sure there is Bey, but she does a lot of hairography with some ass shaking. Speaking of which, that's pretty much all Rihanna does, if it doesn't involve her ass or hips, she ain't doing it. Then, there's Gaga, who's effort is commendable, but is not great. It might be that her choreo is bad, or that she just isn't trained well enough at it. I wanted to see what other stans think.
Is there a void to be filled?
Is being a great dancer an important aspect of being a pop star?
Why is Madonna at 50 and the male pop stars still better at it then the new girls?

None of the big pop stars are amazing vocalist like Mariah or Whitney or overly creative like Cher or Madonna, so why not put more initiative into their dancing?

I for one, hope a new artist comes along with the skill of early 00's Britney and Janet Jackson!

i too miss when pop stars could dance and entertain. JLo is the only one doin it these days but..

how funny, I was just thinking about this. I was watching a one direction video and was thinking about how we had Nsync, BSB, Britney and Xtina all busting out choreo with their big songs, but now you barely see it. Bieber tries to do it, but he's like gaga, who like you said really tries, but its just not their yet.

Girl groups usually have choreo (thinking GRL) but I cant think of a solo act who really does it like they used to.

I agree. No one dances smoothly or with articulated one-two moves. It's all about violent rump shaking and head seizures, especially with Bey and JLO.

J.Lo and Ciara are all we have right now. Beyonce too.

JLo and Ciarra are the only ones. And they're not major pop girls.

Out of the big pop girls, Bey and Gaga are the only ones doing OK. Bey having the edge.
Let's hope the Work Bitch music video shuts us all up and shows what Britney's truly made of.

Simply because pop stars are too lazy nowadays. I get the sense being a popstar before the 2010's was more of a full time role, and pop stars put a lot more effort. Now I feel some popstars see their job as a side job and don't take it seriously, or at least in the dancing department.

Because they still keep getting money despite not really doing choreography on the level of Janet Jackson, when the money stops coming in then there will be change. But that ain't happening

There's other stuff to base performances on these days I guess.

Also many new artist, consider Britney as an inspiration, yet none make any effort towards their dancing. Wasn't Brit known for her dancing? Is it hypocritical?

P!nk dances mostly on tour... but she totally gave herself to acrobatics

I wish there more dancers these days. So far, the early 2010s will NOT be recognized for dancing pop stars.
