Why did Applause perform relatively better?

FourFiveSeconds also had a longer tracking period.

Applause is simply the bigger hit. 45S is still a hit doe.

FFS was not very commercially successful (hasn't it only sold like 1.2 million in the U.S.?) while Applause was a moderate hit on par with songs like Drunk in love and Break Free.

So we're simply going to ignore the fact that FourFiveSeconds DESTROYED Applause almost everywhere else in the world ?

FFS has sold 1.9-1.95m

It was the bigger song. But 45S is the better song

I thought we had it set up that Applause is the bigger and the better song.

Not by much it looks like.

Also, Applause was tied to a cleaner album release and had a huge amount of promotion.

Both are great songs though and both deserved better.

We all know that Applause sold more, had an higher airplay peak and a better chart run. It wasn't that much bigger tho

They're only 5 positions apart girl The comparison is also just a little unfair because FFS only received one televised performance, while Applause was well promoted.

Both songs were hits at the end of the day

Applause was released at the same time as Roar, the media rivalry and comparisons helped it

Let's hope FFS is higher than #23 on the year-end chart on Mediatraffic because that's where Applause placed

It is the better song

Applause was a bigger hit in the US than FFS, but I'm bumping this thread when the WW year end charts is out

Both songs were just ok, they both did fine though.
