Why is the queen of Iceland and avant-pop, Björk, hated by so many people (particularly in the US, I've noticed)? Is it because she's too avant-garde and challenging for them? A lot of Björk haters seem pretty ignorant to me - they hear a few songs and write her off as ''weird''. They should at least give her a proper chance first.

She has a great voice, seems to be a lovely person, she's very intelligent and, though she could be regarded as controversial, she isn't offensive with her so-called ''controversy''.

So... is it just plain ignorance?

(Side-note: I think it's the same situation with Madonna. People seem to hate her so much because of her antics that they won't admit that her music is great. Björk and Madonna: geniuses wrote off by much of the public...)

I don't think she's hated, it's just hard to like her music. At least that's the case for me.

I don't think she's hated, I think she's ignored because her music isn't mainstream. Who can hate Bjork? She's free of flaws

Her music was an acquired taste for me. It took me quite the few listens to actually get into her. I wouldn't say she's hated, but rather misunderstood.

Bjork's voice is an acquired taste for some people. It was for me. Her music is kind of difficult to understand.

She's definitely not slept on, but people seem to call her an idiot etc. all the time. Every time there's an article about her, the comments are always full of hate.

Maybe because of her look and her music videos. Her music is good to me.

She makes music that to loads of people is just noise. Which I completely get. Personally I love ha though.

I think her voice doesn't go down well with a lot of people. I've heard people say that her voice is ugly.

I personally like it. Joga is a really good song too.
