Today the country between Spain and France passed a law that gives LGBT more rights, primarily adoption rights, but not everyone is happy.
The law was a result of the main party voting down a marriage bill this summer and saying it would pass "civil unions" instead. This current law does not even replace the old 2005 union bill, so rights groups are up in arms saying it is ridiculous that the country has TWO union laws and no marriage yet. The majority party's objection to using the word "marriage" as the reason for voting down the summer bill has been labeled senseless and discriminatory and the groups will now go to court to finally have a marriage law.
They say "just call our unions marriage already"
P.S. Italy's civil unions bill is still in the first committee stage I read
