Every generation has that *one* artist that is a worldwide phenomenon and dominates not only the charts, but popular culture too. Previous examples include music artists such as Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Elvis, Madonna and Britney Spears. Within todays generation, the front runners for the title of this generations superstar are Lady Gaga and Rihanna, with both proving that they are the most dominant force musically worldwide. Some will argue that Adele trumps both, but I feel that although she has had an amazing year, despite her record sales, she is not a *superstar.* Many people with an interest in music and stans on ATRL will argue that Lady Gaga is this generations superstar. Her rise to fame has been unmatched in recent years and in what is just her 4th year, she has managed to sell 1/3rd on Madonna's total worldwide sales (100m records sold against 300m records sold), which took her 30 years. Her impact on her comtempories, the music industry in general and popular culture is undeniable, I personally think that she is our generations superstar. Do you agree with me or think otherwise?
I think that there are other contemporaries that definitely should be included in this mix, but I think Gaga is the most pertinent one. Obviously, I'm going to be biased.
There's always 1 black female and 1 white female that are the superstars of generations : 80s - Whitney and Madonna ; 90s - Mariah and Janet ; 00s - Britney and Beyoncé ; now - Rihanna and Lady Gaga
I can't be cerain, but I just know that she has the potential to be. The spectacle of her doesn't compare to the other girls, it reminds me of MJ and Elvis. The over-the-top tabloid articles, the domination on Twitter, the protests and cancellations, hew else?
For God's sakes people... I don't even stan for her and I can tell you she's this generations super star (I'm a Katy stan btw). Nobody has touched her shock value, musical influence, controversies, while still being tasteful and respected, anyone saying no is delusional.
