We all know that black people faced severe oppression during the 19th century (black people are still facing oppression today). But do you think black people deserve to be compensated for the horror (slavery, lynching,etc.) that they suffered during the previous century?

Examples of governments providing compensation to racial/ethnic groups:

- The German government gave (and still give) compensation to Holocaust survivors and the Israeli government for the horror they faced during World War II
- The US government give Native Americans compensation every month/year (?) for taking over their land
- The Canadian government gave $21,000 to each Canadian Japanese for taking all their belongings (houses, clothing, furniture, etc.) during World War II

Personally, I think yes.

I'm black (but I live in Canada) and I think that the US government should give African Americans compensation every month/year for the severe oppression that they faced (and they still continue to struggle with). I just don't find it fair how the US government almost tried to eradicate us and they didn't even help to get our lives back on track. It's just not fair.
