Hi, it's Eeveelution, you may remember my iconic hit rate This Was 2014 - Part 1, now i'm back with my sweet sophomore rate: 2014 Pop Madness. We will be rating the 2014 releases of Lana Del Rey, Charli XCX, Ariana Grande and Tinashe. Here are four young women who slayed 2014 with four very different styles of pop. Now, these are not necessarily the most successful pop albums of 2014, if we did that we would have to include *gasp* male artists like Sam and Ed. But these were certainly four of the most high profile releases on ATRL. I'm sure virtually every active member has enjoyed, or at the very least, anticipated, one or more of these releases. The cryptic tweets, the countdown before the lead single dropped, people perched in anticipation of a leak, warning points flying during said leak. people perched in the HDD thread for first week sales, warning points flying in the HDD threads, the countless "is ___ a flop?" threads, warning points flying in said threads. So all in all, four albums that we as a forum feel very strongly about and this rate will determine which of these albums has the winning song.

Ariana is the definition of a singles artist. With the album containing 4 top 10 hits Ariana proved to be the breakthrough act of 2014. My Everything itself was recieved a more lukewarm reception though it did gain unlikely approval in Pitchfork, but will she get y'alls approval?

With a God given talent for creating an addictive hook, as shown on Icona Pop's smash "I Love It", it was only a matter of time before Charli got a hit of her own. And that she did with the infectious "Boom Clap" as well as a feature on the inescapable "Fancy". While the much delayed Sucker did not impact the charts in the same way, it was still very well received by critics and fans alike.

Outselling the other girls in the rate with no promo, Lana is selling on her name alone proving she is here to stay. Despite the initially frosty reception of her debut, Lana won over many critics with the Dan Auerbach-produced Ultraviolence and appeared on countless year end lists. Ultraviolence sounds worlds away from Born to Die, and lacking the bops ATRL craves, will Lana be able to **** her way up to the top of this rate and snatch the crown?

Tinashe earned herself an Urban hit in early 2014 with flawless bop "2 On". Even if Aquarius might not have lived up to the expectations of her label, it was very enthusiastically received by critics with many favourable comparisons to Janet Jackson, who she samples on "How Many Times". As perhaps the least polarizing artist in the rate, has Tinashe Kachingwe got this?

Rules

2.We will be rating 64 songs in this rate, I tried to include most songs, but there are some exclusions (sorry Tako Hakase stans) please rate every song
3.PM me your scores by midnight GMT on June 20th 2015 You do not have to send me every album at once but if you send them in stages expect some ~~harassment~~ PMs from me to remind you to send.
4. So y'all remember to rate every song, I have included a PM friendly list.
5.Please score every song from 0 (should never have been recorded) to 10 (pop perfection), decimals are allowed, I don't care, score a song 7.898 if you want.
6. For one song and one song only you can give an 11 to give your fave that extra little push. For this song, I'd like you to write a short description about why you love the song so much and I will include it when revealing the song. Think of it as a little obituary, if you will. If you don't do this, don't be mad if I drag your fave song with my write up!
7. In fact, please send commentary for as many songs as you like, it will make things interesting.
8. No trolling, for example, giving Ari all 10s and the others all 2s or giving Old Money a low score. if you want to sabotage, make it slick so I won't notice. If your average for an album is too low, I will not count it.
