I’m going to explain a bit about the beta process, what we’re looking for and how you can get in.
Primary Testers will have a big role to play during the beta process. Responsibilities include:
— Feedback on the design and layout
— Reporting issues like inconsistencies in the design and issues with functionality
— Feedback on the overall usability of the forum (improvements granted by the upgrade and missing features that make usability an issue)
— Feedback on features that we’re currently unsure about keeping
All feedback and suggestions will be considered during this process. The beta will move on to the next stage once all major reported issues are resolved.
ATRL+ users (past and present) will be the first to preview the new forum after we've resolved the initial issues. We’ll still be considering all feedback during this stage but we probably won’t be making major changes until some time after the upgrade is out.
Invite codes will be introduced during the beta and will remain in place when the upgrade goes live. All testers at this point will have codes that they can distribute to friends.
A fully open beta will be available at the end. This will help us test server strain and give users a chance to figure out how they’re going to structure their new profile pages, signatures, avatars, etc.
Beta Duration
The length of this beta really depends on the feedback we get. I’m aiming for about 2 weeks but it could be shorter if the primary testers are confident in what they’re seeing and longer if there are major issues we missed.
Post-Upgrade Upgrades
The upgrade won’t be launching with every single feature we wanted to cram in. There are some things that aren't worth pushing our release back, so expect regular additions to the forum throughout the rest of the year and early next year.
