Hello everybody and welcome to my 3rd Best Of! This has been an unbelievably fun experience for me over the last couple of years, and I'm ready to do it all again. Unlike those last two events, though, I actually plan to finish all of my lists this December. I have twice underestimated the amount of work this requires, and I'm not letting it happen again. I can confidently say that my Year-End Event will not only be completed, but that it will be my biggest one yet.
As you'll know if you followed my past Year-End Events (
2014 &
2015), I will have multiple countdowns ongoing at the same time. They are as follows:
Top 40 of Top 40 - A ranking of my 40 favorite mainstream hits of the year.
Top 30 Rhythmic/Urban Hits - A ranking of my 30 favorite rhythmic/urban hits of the year. Anything that got played more on rhythmic and urban radio more than on pop will go on this list. Note that songs that did equally well on all of those formats but that I judge to be more rhythmic/urban than pop will chart on this list.
Top 20 Non-Hits - A ranking of my 20 favorite non-hits of the year. Note that these songs must have all been official singles (so album tracks or promotional singles are not eligible).
Top 10 Country Hits - A ranking of my 10 favorite country hits of the year.
Top 10 Worst Songs - A ranking of my 10 least favorite hits (of any genre) of the year. This list wasn't present last year, but I plan to bring it back now.
Honorable Mentions - These acknowledge songs that don't fit into any of the categories above. I'm not sure exactly how many I'll have this year, but it should be in the 5-10 range.
Favorite Albums - This is a new feature this year. I plan to recognize several of my favorite albums of the year, though I won't be ranking them.
I made a schedule, but I probably won't be following it. Additionally, I'm not going to make any promises regarding when I'll update. All I can tell you is that I won't be updating in class, so weekday updates will be after 2:45pm.
