World’s Smallest Man, the Dominican Nelson dies in N.Y.
The Dominican Nelson de la Rosa, who held the Guinness Record as the World Smallel Man, passed away yesterday at the age of 39 years in a New York clinic, where he was taken after suffering health problems when he was traveling from Chile to Boston.
Born in June 1968, and just over 3 feet tall, Nelson was a son of a normal stature couple. De la Rose played important roles such as "The Human Rat" and "The Island of the Dr Moreau," the latter next to Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer.
In addition he participated in videos, and television programs throughout Latin America.
His manager announced that Nelson’s remains will be brought to Dominican Republic in the next hours.
De la Rosa’s first show business experience was in this city’s Malecon, where he would sing and dance for approving crowds of passersby.
