I was at one today and it was so nice. It was a lot of families and local businesses handing out free shirts (this butch bitch next to me literally got away with 7 tees
) and liberal mayoral candidates shaking hands and stuff. There wasn't a whole lot of sexually charged stuff in the parade and festival compared to last year, it was almost like they were moving away from it to make the event more family friendly. I enjoyed that aspect a whole lot, especially since, if you're wanting the more sexual stuff, you can just go clubbing later.
Still, I know several LGBT people in my area who think prides are unnecessary at this point or even detrimental to the community's image. That's why I'm curious.
